VIPKid- What is a Hiring Coach?!

I am sure that if you are on Instagram, you have seen that there are MANY wonderful hiring coaches for various online ESL companies. And if you’re new to the online ESL world, you’re probably also wondering what that’s all about. Hiring coaches are free to the person applying to teach and will help you to navigate the ins and outs of getting hired--again, for free! But that coach will also receive a small commission once you are hired and have taught your first class.

Do I need a hiring coach?

No. You can definitely get hired without using a hiring coach. A hiring coach will help to break down the steps and provide you with materials, insight and COACHING to help you to get hired quickly. And it’s FREE, so why not?!

Does it matter which coach I choose?

YES! Like I said, there are many coaches out there. You will want to see what each coach offers. Freebies? Coaching sessions? Hiring guide? Continued assistance after hiring? Some of the most popular coaches are just that...very popular. So receiving answers to questions or feedback or flexibility in scheduling coaching sessions will be more difficult if someone has many referrals they are working with. But you also want to work with someone who has experience helping people through the hiring process, and maybe not someone who has just been hired themselves.

How do I choose?

Look on Instagram and YouTube for people who are providing the kind of service that you want. I would send messages or emails and see how long it takes the person to respond. You will want to work with someone who is responsive, friendly and knowledgeable. The hiring coach that I worked with was someone who I related to- she was previously a classroom teacher and currently at stay at home mom with her young son. When we sent messages back and forth I felt like she knew who I was and remembered our previous conversations, where some other coaches I felt that I might just be one more referral. Do what’s right for you!

Why should I use a hiring coach?

1) My referrals will receive private access to my Hiring Guide, printables, name plates, and props to use during the demo and mock lessons.

2) I offer 1:1 mock class coaching sessions to practice ESL techniques and strategies in a stress-free and collaborative environment. You will be able to schedule a time to run through your mock class and receive constructive feedback prior to scheduling your real mock class.

3) You will receive step by step assistance through the four phases of the hiring process. Email, text, DM and received tailored answers to your questions!

4) Once hired, I will look over your profile picture, your bio and your intro video to help you acquire new students and Learning Partner following quickly.

5) A virtual teacher can never have too many Reward Systems! I will provide you with numerous printable rewards to use once hired!

These are all perks that I offer to those using me as a hiring coach! I am not only readily available during the hiring process, but will continue to provide assistance as you get your footing during your first few months teaching. Many questions come up and it’s nice to have someone reliable for help.

This job has provided me with the flexibility that I currently need as a stay-at-home mom with a toddler but also as someone who misses teaching in the classroom. I get the best of both worlds-teaching for part of my day and then adventuring with my little guy.
